We’d like to highlight a favorite project that demonstrates the quality of work you can expect to receive when you work with Sander & Sons on your upcoming kitchen remodel. The Steele Kitchen project was completed a few years back, but it remains a favorite because of the classic selections. Sander & Sons kitchen designer, Monica Chalupsky, worked with the homeowners to reimagine their historic Denver home and transform it into a space they will love for years to come.
Client Goals
We always begin every project by engaging our clients in a detailed discussion of their goals. This part of the process is critical to our ability to deliver the exceptional results you deserve – it ensures we’re aligned with your goals every step of the way, and it arms us with the knowledge we need to bring your vision to life.
The client expressed the following goals for their kitchen remodel project:
- Open the space up
- Update the kitchen, while maintaining the character of the home
- Preserve certain features that were important to their enjoyment of the space
- Improve the functionality of their kitchen
- Create more storage
Planning Phase of this Kitchen Remodel Project
Our process includes a meticulous planning phase to ensure all the details are accounted for and we have the information necessary to execute the project with the highest levels of precision. When we visit your home for your consultation, our team takes measurements of your kitchen to ensure your new kitchen design optimizes the available space. These measurements and our detailed planning allow for a more innovative design process that ensures your new kitchen achieves all your goals for the project.
Our planning had to account for a variety of factors associated with the existing use of the space:
- We had to work around a laundry chute that was original to the home and a radiator in the corner of the kitchen
- We didn’t want to disturb some features of the home because it would be too difficult and costly, so we had to also work around an old fireplace where the wall comes out a bit
- They previously only had one wall of cabinetry, so we planned for a new layout that included more cabinetry with better storage solutions
- The design included moving the location of everything except the refrigerator and sink
- Our plan called for removing the old pantry space and adding a peninsula island with access to the laundry chute
Customized Solutions for the Steele Kitchen Project
At Sander & Sons, we understand that a “one size fits all” approach to kitchen remodel projects simply doesn’t work. No two kitchens are alike – they all have unique dimensions and use the available space differently. Similarly, every client has their own set of unique goals for what they want to accomplish as part of their remodel, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. To address these goals properly, it’s critical for us to develop customized solutions for every project we work on.
The following customized solutions were created to deliver the best possible results while adhering to the client’s budget for their kitchen remodel:
- There is a door on the end of the peninsula island that was lined up perfectly so the laundry chute could still be accessed and utilized for kitchen towels
- We used integrated drawers and accessories to make the cabinetry as useful as possible for the homeowners
- We used Wood Harbor Cabinetry in the color thyme, and a Seabrook door style to address the aesthetic goals of the client
- The client’s chose quartz countertops, white subway tile and faux brick tile around the fireplace bump out to achieve their desired look
Results
We worked with Shane Lamberty of Infinity Builders for this project. He was a great fit for the project and his team was able to maintain the integrity of a special home while updating it to a more current style and function.
The homeowners loved the overall beauty and increased functionality of this kitchen. The beautiful green color of the cabinetry gave a fresh feel with a classic look.
